Life beyond the sled
Husky farm visit & husky hike in Ylläs, Äkäslompolo
Winter safaris show only a small glimpse of our dogs’ year-round life.
Life with huskies doesn’t begin or end with winter. While sled rides are the most familiar part of what we do, our dogs’ daily needs continue the same way after the snow melts – they are still active, curious, and above all eager to do things together with people.
That’s why our year-round and off-season programs are so important to us. They give our dogs a chance to stay active, use their energy, and most importantly spend time with people – which is always the highlight of their day. At the same time, especially our husky farm visits introduce our dogs as individuals in their everyday life, and offer a unique opportunity to get to know huskies on a deeper level.
The unpredictable snow
As a small family business, the off-season is a meaningful time for us. Winters can be short and unpredictable even in Lapland, and sometimes the snow simply doesn’t last as long as we hope.
During those times, these everyday activities are a huge support for us – they help keep our daily life balanced, our dogs happy, and ensure that we can continue to provide them with excellent care all year round.
So when you join us, you’re not just visiting our farm. You become part of our everyday life, and play a genuinely important role in bringing joy to our dogs.

A brisk husky hike to a forest hut is one of our dogs’ absolute off-season favourites.
Having their very own human and exploring through forest trails is the perfect way to balance the busy safari season. The hike starts at our farm, where we get to know the huskies and their daily life, and you’ll also meet your furry hiking companion for the trip.
Each adult is paired with their own husky, and together we head out along a typical Lappish forest trail. We have dogs for different paces, from slightly calmer walkers to those full of eager energy!
Along the way, we stop at a Kota – a traditional Finnish hut with open fire – to take a break and enjoy some snacks and warm drinks prepared over the crackling fire. During the hike, there’s plenty of time to take in the surrounding nature and get to know your canine companions.
